Y7 Catch-up Premium

2015/16

Pendle Vale College received (in February 2016) £29,000 Catch Up Premium Funding.  This funding has been utilised as a contribution to the salary of a Literacy Intervention teacher who continues to work with those students who come in to the College below Level 4 and funding for the Lexia Software System.

LEXIA Year 7

19 students.  100% moved up on reading age, ranging from 4 months to nearly three full years (average increase of 1 year 10 months)

LEXIA Year 8

21 students.  16 our of 21 moved forward in their reading age from 2 months up to 4 years 9 months (average increase of 1 year 9 months)

Intervention

About 60 students (withdrawal) small groups of 10.  Working on a range of reading and the development of writing skills.

2014/15

In 2014/15 the College received £24,500 Catch Up Premium funding.  This funding has been utilised as a contribution to the salary of a Literacy Intervention teacher who works with those students who come in to the College below Level 4 and funding for the Lexia Software System.

The funding that we have received in previous years has been used in the same manner.

Evidence of Impact 2013/14

A group of Y7/Y8 students with a reading age below their reading age, attended two 20 minute Lexia sessions each week including completion of homework

     Average Reading Age at the start: 7.5 years

    Average Reading Age at the end: 8.75 years

Intervention lessons, 63 students withdrawn from foundation subjects for 1 hour per week.

    Average level at the start: 4c

    Average level at the end: 4b/4a
