Pendle Vale win Debating Competition

Pendle Vale are celebrating as winners of the The Burnley College Sixth Form Centre Debating Competition 2019.

Students from Year’s 7 & 8 had to participate in several debates against 1 of 5 other schools in each round.   The students were asked to debate the following 4 topics

  •  Round 1 – ‘Should children be allowed to choose their own religion?’ (Against).
  •  Round 2 – ‘Does God exist?’ (For)
  •  Semi final – ‘Should Religious Education be part of the curriculum?’ (For)
  •  Final – ‘Should abortion be banned in all circumstances (like some American states)?’ (For).

Ms Solkar, Curriculum Leader for RS & Citizenship said “We faced St Christopher’s A Team in the final and faced some tough questions as the students were arguing the less favorable opinion however our students held their own. They were simply amazing!”

Congratulations Team Pendle Vale!
