PLEASE ASSUME COLLEGE IS OPEN UNLESS YOU RECEIVE A MESSAGE OR EMAIL FROM SCHOOL
When the weather is bad:
PLEASE DO NOT RING THE COLLEGE UNLESS IT IS AN EMERGENCY
Our approach will always be to remain open wherever possible. We are fortunate to benefit from a site that allows students to remain safely inside once they have arrived at school.
Closure Information for bad weather
On rare occasions, particularly in winter, the weather can be so severe that getting to and from College may become hazardous, or it may not be possible to provide adequate staffing for school to be safe.
If the College has to close or there is to be a delayed start, all families will be contacted by text and email via My Child At School (MCAS).
Should school need to close early, all families will be contacted by text and email via My Child At School (MCAS).
It is vital we have families’ correct mobile number and email address – please notify us of any changes.
In addition to the above, we will notify BBC Radio Lancashire along with other local media and update our website and social media.
If a student arrives at College unaware of the closure a member of staff will be here to help.
If the weather deteriorates during the day:
- Please do not ring the college unless it is an emergency
- College will close only in extreme cases
- Any decision to close will be made by the Headteacher and other Senior Leaders.
- All families will be notified by text message and / or email.
- The closure may be staggered to support the safe dismissal of students
- Please avoid ringing College to enquire if we are closing or to collect your children early. We need to keep the phone lines open to make any necessary arrangements and avoid further disruption to getting the students home.
- College will be kept open with staff on hand until the last student has left.
